How Your Home’s Drainage System Works

Your Drainage System

Your home’s drainage system utilizes gravity to pull water through the house and then move it outside to drain. Waste and dirty water are piped through a “soil stack” which then takes the waste through the main drain, which is generally located beneath the house. Bends in the pipe which are referred to as “traps” prevent smelly waste odors from escaping through the pipes and back into your home. Thankfully, vents prevent these noxious gases from escaping throughout the house.
